The Cardinal Basketball Officials Association (CBOA) provides basketball officials for the Northern Virginia area covering schools in Fairfax, Loudoun, Arlington, Alexandria, Prince William, and Fauquier counties.  In a meeting with the VHSL five years ago, it was asked how sportsmanship can be promoted by the various partners they have and the idea was created to recognize those teams that set the example of great sportsmanship.  Our officials have an opportunity to nominate and vote for the Girls Program and Boys Program each season that meets the definition.  This is an award that recognizes the entire program, not just a coach or team.  All teams (Varsity, JV, and Freshman), Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Players, School Administrators, Athletic Trainers, Parents, and Students play a role in sportsmanship.

  For the 2020-2021 Season, we are pleased to recognize the following program for being leaders and exhibiting Sportsmanship:
