Fifteen members of the Westfield DECA chapter competed in DECA's State Leadership Conference in Virginia Beach.  DECA is a marketing club for students interested in business and marketing.  The State Leadership Conference consisted of over 2,000 students from the state of Virginia.

At the conference, students took tests, competed in marketing and business scenario role-plays, and presented solutions before professional business community members asked to serve as judges.  Medals were awarded for top test and role-play results, as well as top overall scores.  Individuals who scored in the Top 9 qualified to advance to the International Career Development Conference, commonly called the ICDC.  This is a top honor for any DECA student.

Three Westfield students earned awards for their performances.  Harene Jun received a Top 10 medal for the role play in Financial Consulting category, while Anthony Macias received a Top 10 medal for role play in Retail Merchandising Services.  Casey Buckley received a Top 10 Medal for his test result in the Marketing Communication series, and qualified to advance to the ICDC next month in Anaheim, California.

Congratulations to Harene, Anthony, Casey, and the rest of DECA and good luck to Casey at the ICDC!
