Student Parking

Instructions for students who would like to obtain a student parking hang-tag for 2023 - 2024 school year.

The online application process for the 2023 - 2024 school year opens at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, to all eligible students.

Our parking application process will remain entirely digital. You only need to pick up your hang-tag in person once ALL STEPS ARE COMPLETE - there will be no forms to hand in. Our process ensures the accuracy and understanding of Westfield's Safety and Security Department parking policies.

We require families to complete the application together - student, parent, or guardian. This process should take forty minutes to complete, which includes a twenty-minute recorded student safety briefing.

Students must complete all parts of the application process, including passing that student safety briefing knowledge check with 80%, paying for the hang-tag via MySchoolBucks, and paying for any outstanding parking fines before being issued a hang-tag. Students cannot park on campus until they have picked up a hang-tag - this is the final step of the parking process.   Parking at Cub Run ReCenter or any surrounding private lots is never allowed and may result in ticketing and/or towing.

In recent school years, Westfield has had ample parking spaces for all eligible students who have applied for a parking hang-tag.  The student parking hang-tag number correlates to a parking spot number.  Parking hang-tags are distributed randomly by grade level.

The online application process for the 2023 - 2024 school year opens at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, to eligible Seniors and Juniors students.  Eligible sophomores may apply after October 1, 2023.

Parking on School Grounds is a Privilege

Parking on campus is a privilege and not a right. It is not guaranteed. As determined by FCPS, the Westfield Safety and Security Specialist, and the Westfield Administration team, parking is based on space, availability, and student standing.

Students wishing to park on campus during school hours must have an FCPS-issued hang-tag. The Westfield Security Specialist and Administrative team reserve the right to deny any student the privilege of parking on school grounds. Assigned hang-tags and the privilege to park on campus can be revoked.  Hang-tags may be revoked for a minimum of two weeks when directly related to SR&R and Virginia State Traffic Code violations, such as but not limited to leaving school grounds, transporting students without proper authorization, and reckless driving.

We cannot process applications for students who do not currently have a valid driver's license. Applications, however, will be accepted through June 2024 for those who obtain their license throughout the school year.

Parking on school grounds during the school day without a hang-tag obtained as described is prohibited. In addition, parking at Cub Run RECenter or other private and professional business lots in the surrounding areas is prohibited - local businesses and government agencies ticket and tow violating vehicles at the owner's expense.

Academy Students

Academy students who travel from one campus to another are expected to utilize the FCPS Academy shuttle bus. Academy students wanting to park on campus and having a valid need to drive to their academy locations must contact Mr. Mahan at [email protected] outlining that need. If approved, students will need to contact their Academy to receive instructions on applying for parking on their campus and then receive approval. Approvals from both the Academy and Westfield are required to drive to academies. At no time is transporting other students to or from the academy authorized or allowed. Doing so will result in the loss of parking privileges at Westfield.
