Work Awareness and Transition (WAT) is a course designed to prepare students for employment through career awareness, career exploration, and work experiences while in school.

Through our mystery St. Patrick’s Day earring sale, our students were able to gain real life experiences that help introduce them to the needs and expectations of the world of work. Student involvement is also critical in supporting the increase of students’ self-esteem and confidence. During this project, our students were able to practice appropriate interactions with their peers as well as adults and enhance some work-related skills. These skills include the designing of earrings, organization of orders by creating a checklist to follow, packaging orders, and then delivering them to the appropriate teacher’s mailbox. These clerical skills support many of our students as they enter the world of work. As our students build these skills, they become more confident in themselves and their abilities!

We can’t wait for our next project this spring-Tie Dye face masks!
