Pooja Nadipalli Portfolio

While generating ideas for my concentration this year, I thought about using my art history class as inspiration. While sitting in the class, my mind naturally wandered to my own work. Initially, I wanted my body of work to reflect techniques and concepts of the past. As I progressed through the year, I found this idea was limiting my ability to showcase my personal style and voice. Subsequently, I altered my concentration, opting for a focus on history told through art styles invoking the time.

As a whole, my body reflects the wealth of knowledge the past holds. In art, amazing artists have experimented and pushed boundaries through their work, and as a student, there is so much to learn from. Furthermore, I would also like my work to speak to the universal human experience. By placing my subjects in the past or using historical styles/techniques, I hope the emotion behind my work shows that people everywhere have faced similar struggles as we do today. In my recent pieces, I have sought to show a time period, corresponding artistic choices, and a problem/feeling I believe all people have felt.
