Westfield High School Finish Strong Program
Description of Program:
Eligible seniors have the opportunity to get practical experience at a local business, school, or community service organization over twelve days at the end of 4th quarter. This benefits students by allowing them to explore career and personal interests beyond the classroom. Students are provided with a tangible experience, so they can put their interests in action in a non-academic setting.
Finish Strong Dates:
- Monday, May 13 through Tuesday, May 28, 2024. Application due: March 1, 2024
Finish Strong Options:
- Off-Site Career Shadowing
- WHS On-Site Career Shadowing (pre-approved)
- Service Learning Project
- A current job in a different capacity (unpaid)
Finish Strong Requirements:
- 60 hours over a 12 day period
- Time log for hours spent within experience
- Presentation for Share Fair at the conclusion
- 2-3 minute video about experience
Share Fair Date:
- Wednesday, May 29th
Grading:
Students will be finished with classes when they start their Finish Strong Experience on May 13th. A student’s final grade for each class will be determined by the grades achieved up to May 13th. Finish Strong seniors will be exempt from all assignments, assessments (to include final exams) that occur after the beginning of Finish Strong. EXCEPTION: AP College Board Exams , Academy Final Exams, CTE Certification tests, and Online Course Final Exams
