My portfolio theme is different folklore and mythological creatures from different cultures. These pieces are the product of a lot of research and learning. I still took artistic liberties portraying these creatures, but I tried to stay true to the stories and culture. Through my work, I hope people realize that everyone’s culture is beautiful and have such interesting stories to share. Most folklore are life lessons incorporated in these stories; a lot of these tales are on the darker side, but I tried to keep a mystical element. My pieces are done on a 12”x 16” canvas tile primarily using acrylic paint, but there are collage elements in some of the pieces. I’ve done research for every piece shown today and I hope I have represented these stories accurately and respectfully. Thank you so much and I hope you enjoy!
